MEMORIES OF MY PAST
MEMORIES OF MY PAST
THERE WAS A MERRY- GO -ROUND
ON OUR SCHOOL PLAYGROUND
AND HOW I WANTED TO GET ON
AND RIDE
TO FEEL THE WIND BLOWING
THROUGH MY LONG BLONDE
HAIR
YOU HAD TO BE FAST TO CATCH
THE BAR AS IT CAME AROUND
TO YOU
YOU REACH YOUR ARM OUT TO
GRAB THE STEEL ROD WITH ALL
YOUR STRENGTH
THERE YOU WERE SAILING AS THE
MERRY-GO-ROUND MADE IT'S CIRCLE
FOR THE NEXT CHILD TO GRAB
A RIDE
LAUGHING AND DREAMING LIKE
ONLY A CHILD DID IN OUR PAST
WISHING THE MERRY-GO-ROUND
RIDE COULD LAST FOREVER

CELEBERATING OUR INDEPENENCE
feel the heat of a summer night
smell the aroma of the evening
as darkness closes in
looking to the sky to find the first star
trying to catch a firefly as it flutters by
July the 4th
best holiday of the year
children loved the ice cream,
watermelon and strawberry soda
day off, yard to mow, ribs to cook

Poppy's
POPPY'S
Just a few poppy's on a mound
how graceful they sway
Their petals so thin but
so strong
their heads held high
with such grace
A head turning site
one wont forget
just a memory from our past
written and painted by:
Beverley H. Hanes
the painting is a dry brush watercolor
painted on hand made paper
made by the artist
Original, Prints and Cards are available
