The Last Day of 2013

 Beverley's Christmas Angel 2013
I went looking for angel wings to attach on my tomato wires
I had visualized how I could make one
then I found this angel on a display
she was so pretty only she came in a box

Opening the large box I found she came with two pieces for the body
then came the wings, arms, head, halo, with steel pins, plastic ties
with strange instructions I discovered the one in English only to
realize they were written by someone who spoke another
language

I put her together in the formal entry
which was next to the front door
It was bitter cold or I would have moved to the front porch
the instructions did not tell you that you needed to be a contortionists

The angel was over 5 feet tall, she came with a mind of her own
when you would try to attached the torso to the waist, she would flop
one why or the other
it was exhausting, nerve racking, my hands hurt

I am not a quitter, I am tough, I can visualize what I am creating
I wanted my angel to look like an angel
I was so excited when she was completed
it took framing wire, cutters, goodies like white pipe cleaners

When I went to take her down to pack her away until next Christmas
then I saw I had chained her to the railing of the porch
it was 5:00 pm and the air was briskly blowing cold air
I did not remember how I chained her to the railing

I will start 2014 dismantling My Angel

Hose in Europe are called Tights

All I can say is I did not get to
wear my new Christmas gift
to myself this year
I told myself my leg swelling would be gone

The gift to myself was
a black cashmere dress from
Bloomingdale's
love that store even if I only can shop on line

When I was in Europe I bought the above hoses
while I was in Paris than in Stuttgart, Germany
They worked for me they kept the swelling down
so I could walk and climb all the stairs they have in Europe
love that area of the world

Now to tell you why I had this trouble
I followed the doctors orders to take this medicine
It nearly was the death of me
It left me with the largest legs and sever pain

Then there was surgery on both legs to reroute the blood to the artery
 I am still fighting
going strong for you see I am a winner

More tomorrow

THE SUNSET STILLWATER MILL

evening
on a cool
October day
a strange glow
flood the room
turning the studio
a golden hue

A true story about the
building in the corner
of the picture
that was the 1st art studio
downtown Stillwater
It was a beautiful studio with french windows from top of the roof to the floor
the windows faced the north, sometimes catching the morning east light.   I shared the studio
with Maggie Glass, what a team and what a period of time.

One Sunday morning going to the studio to paint, what a surprise I found.
Turning the key to the downstairs door, discovering there were no stairs.   I climb the wall where crosswise boards braced the building to the top floor.   Only to discover I need to come down to use the telephone.  In the 60's we had no cell phone and we never thought anything about going to find a pay phone.  Southwestern bell was very close by and the news stand was across the street.

What I discovered when I came down was the bank was building a new bank next door and my beautiful french windows had to come down.  They would be torn out on Monday.  That did not leave us much time to find a reasonable place for a downtown studio with north light.   Lucky I found one in the Hoke building.

My story is just a brief part of my color life as an artist in downtown Stillwater.  We move out that Sunday.  Oh what fun.  We went out the windows across the roof, lowering the furniture, the easels, paintings and all the treasures all
artist have.  If you are wondering who we were:  There was Darrell, his buddies from the Electronic Lab, Maggie, Payton, and me.

I  hope you enjoyed this post, please let me know.   I will be watching for new followers.  Bev

DAY NUMBER ONE OF YEAR 2013

Posted by Picasa

I WOKE THIS MORNING

TO FIND SNOW HAS BRUSHED

THE DRY BROWN LEAVES WITH

A LIGHT FLUFF OF SNOW

THE AIR WAS STILL

NO BIRDS IN THE SKY

ONLY THE SQUIRREL'S PLAYED

THROUGH THE TREES

ALL DAY LONG THE DAY

STAYED COLD AND GRAY

UNTIL THIS  EVENING

WHEN THE SUN BEGIN TO SIT

THE SKY BEGIN TO PAINT

 BEAUTIFUL COLORS

OF THE EVENING GLOW

 TO CLOSE THE DAY

FOR SUNSET
